‘GoldenEye 007’ for N64 Documentary in the Works

The Australian based Roller Coaster Films revealed today, via an IndieGoGo campaign, that they are currently working on a partially crowd funded documentary about Rare’s ‘GoldenEye 007’ for Nintendo 64.

The aptly titled, ‘GoldenEra‘ seeks to explore and discuss the history and impact of how a small and inexperienced team went on to create one of the most respected and influential games ever created, forever changing the way video games were played.

Released in 1997 exclusively for Nintendo 64, the game is based on the 1995 film ‘GoldenEye’, starring Pierce Brosnan in his first outing as James Bond. Now celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2017, the game is widely regarded as one of the best video games of all time.

The team behind the documentary have turned to crowd funding to help facilitate the completion of the film, and raise $85, 000 USD. In addition to location filming in the United Kingdom, stretch goals have been put in place should funding exceed the campaign’s goal, with a North American filming leg, and a trip to the Verzasca Dam in Switzerland, the location of the films icon bungee jump sequence.

“In 2017 our team began work on a documentary about the the game ‘GoldenEye 007’ for N64. A game that changed the way we play video games.

We have interviewed GoldenEye developers, as well as many industry experts from IGN, Kotaku, GameSpot and Good Game. What we found was a story that’s even more fascinating than we hoped. Which is why we’re asking for your help to take the project to the next level and capture many more stories and create the documentary this game deserves.”

‘GoldenEra’ is scheduled to be released in late 2017.
